Before I announce any winners, I wanted to make sure everyone knew that LE is giving away a signed copy of Shadowglass by Erica Hayes. The contest ends Mar 16th, so there’s plenty of time to get entered.

Skyler White Contest

Last week, Skyler White paid a visit to Literary Escapism and was sweet enough to give away a signed copy of and Falling, Fly – to one lucky winner.  In order to enter, everyone had to answer the question: Who are some of your favorite characters?.  Now, without further ado, the winner is:

YAN who said: I feel like the oddball saying: Yelena and Valek. They’re YA characters from The Study Series that was recently reshelved in the teens section for some reason.

A couple of weeks ago, the FedEx man was amazing and dropped off a copy of Skyler White’s upcoming novel, and Falling, fly.  Since I already had a copy, I would like to pass it on to one lucky reader.  The first person who won the initial contest has yet to email me, so it’s time to draw another name. In order to enter, everyone had to answer the question: what one book would you love to get for your birthday. The winning response belongs too…

HEATHER (DarklyReading) who said: For my bday I’m hoping for Twice Bitten by Chloe Neill, it comes out 2 weeks after my b-day but maybe I’ll get lucky and somehow get my hands on it early ;)

Congratulations Yan and Heather!

Jeri Smith-Ready Contest

Jeri was amazing and stopped by a couple of weeks ago and was discussing the super cool toys that a lot of authors get to make up for their heroes.  While she was here, we gave away a copy of Wicked Game and Bad to the Bone, plus a cool silver metal dog or cat bookmark – to one lucky winner.   However, I haven’t heard from the winner yet!  So it’s time to draw a new winner.  All anyone had to do to enter was answered this one simple question: What kind of super cool, kick ass spy toys would you give your hero or heroine?.  Now, without further ado, the winner is:

LISA R, who said: I’d give my hero a suit of clothes that had silver buttons and was stitched with silver thread. that would keep vamps from getting to close.

Congratulations Lisa!

Contact Me

All winners need to contact me.  Everyone has one week to send me an email at myjaxon AT gmail, otherwise I’ll draw new names when I post the current week contest winners next weekend.  Please oh please everyone contact me though.  I really don’t want to have to draw new names.  :)

As always, I determined the winners by inputting all the entries into the List Randomizer, scrambling it up a couple of times, and then had the Research Randomizer pick a number.

and Falling, Fly by Skyler White

To help celebrate my birthday, the FedEx man was amazing and dropped off a copy of Skyler White’s upcoming novel, and Falling, fly. Since I already had a copy, I’m passing it on to one lucky winner. In order to enter, everyone had to answer the question: what one book would you love to get for your birthday. The winning response belongs too…

INCiDeNT who said: I’m wanting The Darkest Lie by Gena Showalter, I’m not sure of the determined date, but it’s sometime in July – as long as someone grabs it for me, I’d be happy. ;D

Congratulations Incident!

Check out the cover for Maria Snyder’s third Glass novel, Spy Glass, which will be out in September.  Also, great news for our friends overseas – Spy Glass will be released in the US, UK and Australia all at the same time.  The first two novels, Storm Glass and Sea Glass, will be released in Australia starting in May.

Also, Maria Snyder released the title for her follow-up novel to Inside Out.  Everyone can be on the lookout for Outside In sometime next year (she’s just getting started on it).

I got to thinking recently about all the authors I typically recommend.  There are some heavy favorites, and not just by me, on my list, but I started wondering…am I missing someone who I’ve read and have simply forgotten to add?  I’ve read a lot of new authors since then and I seriously have this feeling that I’m missing some great novels.

I’ll be honest, my list of recommendations was posted back in May of 2008 and I’ve to keep it updated, but it tends to be forgotten.  Plus, I haven’t read all there is the UF/PNR genre, so I know I’m missing a bunch.  So I want to ask everyone, what authors/series/books do you recommend to people.

This week, lets focus on only those books involving vampires and/or werewolves as the main characters.  We’ll hit some of the other paranormal species next week.  Here’s my list.  Have I missed something?  …

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Here’s the rules:

  1. Get the book you’re currently reading
  2. Open it to any random page
  3. Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page (Be courteous of your readers)
  4. You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!

This week’s teaser involves Kitty Raises Hell by Carrie Vaughn, the sixth novel in her Kitty Norville series.

From page 64:

The ratings hound in me was jumping up and down. Had I scooped a story here? Was I about to expose one of the Paradox PI crew as actually being a paranormal herself? Clairvoyant or something? …
